please can you advise… I want to start a ‘back=pack hot drinks’ service – dispensing coffee on foot – do I need a hygiene licience or and a pedlars licience ? are there any other restrictions etc I should be aware of.

All our volunteers have been away for last few weeks… hence delay in responding.

Your local EHD can confirm that coffee is a “low risk” foodstuff and therefore not require EHD registration… they are very helpful… usually… but they know nothing about pedlary and its law.
You will require a pedlars certificate but be aware that police are confused about what a pedlar may or may not do so do not state what you intend to trade other than “any goods as per the Pedlars Act”.
I suggest that you send us copy of the local Pedlars Application Form to draft on your behalf.
Let us know where you might intend to trade so we can let you know if any other legislation applies in the area… eg name of Local Authority.
